Replacing the X-Axis Belt

Important: Power off printer

Release the belt tension as described in the motor belt tensioning section.

Remove the printhead:

Snap off the rear printhead cover and disconnect the wiring harness.

Remove the four 2.5 mm Allen screws securing the printhead to the carriage and set the printhead aside.

Remove the right-side front housing as described in the motor replacement section. This provides access to route the new belt over the motor pulley

With the printhead removed, the belt ends are visible where they attach to the underside of the printhead carriage (Figure 7).
Using a 2.5 mm Allen wrench, remove both belt connectors.

Pay close attention to the belt orientation before removing it. The tooth side of the belt must face the connector as shown in Figure 8.

The belt is retained in each connector by a wedge. Carefully pry the wedge out using a small flat-blade screwdriver. Figure 9 shows the belt connector and wedge separated.

To route the belt you need to remove the tensioner assembly on the left. This can be done by removing the tension locking screws on the top and rear and slide out the tensioning assembly. Route the new belt through the gantry, around the motor pulley on the right, and around the tensioning idler on the left. Ensure the toothed side of the belt faces inward toward the pulleys.

Reinstall the belt into both connectors and secure each one using the wedges in the same orientation shown in Figure 8.

Reattach both belt connectors to the printhead carriage. The first side installs easily; the second side requires pulling the belt taut while installing the connector.

Tension the belt using the procedure described in the belt tensioning section

Reinstall the printhead and the right-side housing.

Before powering on move the printhead carriage by hand from side to side to verify that it moves smoothly without binding.

Power on the printer and perform a full calibration.
